If you love to tweak your images one-by one and shoot less than about a hundred shots at a time than raw could be for you. In fact, if you prefer the look you can get from raw (it may be different from JPG in some cases depending on software) you can let your computer batch process images and save the results as JPGs, too. I almost never shoot anything in raw, and when I do I never see any difference for all the effort I wasted anyway. (I can see differences if I blow things up to 100% or bigger on my computer, but not in prints.)
That's about all there is to it. It's sad that some people actually get so excited by all this they put up hate websites like this here. It's sad because I completely agree with Petteri's Pontifications. One's preference for JPG or raw depends on what you're trying to do. Each format has no absolute goodness; it's all how in how appropriate they are to your particular work. Everyone's need vary and I just happen to prefer JPG.

Raw ist wie ein Negativ bei der Analogen Fotografie.
Bei der Anlogen Fotografie kann man bei der aussarbeitung ( vergrößern) noch etwas raushohlen. Wenn sie in ein labor gibst sieht es so aus wie es auf dem film ist.
So ist es auch bei Raw da hast die Möglichkeit die Belichteung, Weisabbgleich usw. nachträglich etwas auf zu bessern ... und man hat einfach 16 bit.
Bei jpg führt die Kamera auch noch frabkorekuren durch die nicht immer gewollt sind. Für ne Consumer Knips mal Schnell reicht Jpg aber bei Spiegelreflex und wenn man wert auf gut Bilder legt geht nichts über Raw.
Das genau so wie auf ner Dslr dden Automodus benutzen.
Und das wird dir eigentlich jeder Fotograf der die materie Diagital versteht bestätigen.

ich bearbeite seit 15 Jahren meine bilder digital nach, auch als ich noch analog fotografierte, habe diese eingscannt und in photoshop weiterverarbeitet und das gleiche tue ich heute immer noch.
und die parameter der camera habe ich so eingestellt wie ich meine fotos am liebsten habe.
also für mich wiegt der nachteil des RAW mit seiner großen datenmenge und geringen aufnahme/speichergeschwindigkeit schwerer als die vorteile die mir persönlich das jpg bietet.
