My biggest problem is with the ö sound, we have nothing like it in English. A few times I have spoken German in my dreams and did very well.

The closest in English is words with an 'e' at the end to make the vowel longer - say 'sam' and 'same' or 'ton' and 'tone'
It's very similar (good enough) when saying 'schon' and 'schön'
The umlaut is in any case like an invisible 'e' after the letter...

Hello David! We were taught to say ee while making your mouth as if to say oo (or maybe the other way around).
But then, not all of you Brits are understandable to me and you are (supposedly) speaking the same language!

I just tried it and it REALLY sounds a little similar to "ö"... but it looks SO stupid

My parents just came back from China yesterday and they almost killed me for cooking sweet-sour
