The only problem is that if I wanted a fun little car I’d rather have a Mini — a car where you really can save money and get better performance with a bit of after-market tuning.
An £11,000 Mini One does 0 to 60 in 11 seconds and has a top speed of 112mph. A Mini Cooper, with exactly the same engine, does 0 to 60 in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 126. How? Simple. The “map” is different.

So instead of buying a £13,000 Mini Cooper, go for an £11,000 Mini One — which is exactly the same — and then pay someone with an Oedipus complex a hundred quid or so to change the map.

Wenn ich ein Spaßauto haben möchte dann hol ich mir lieber nen MINI da kann ich auch Geld sparen!
Kauf dir nen Mini One der ist ein paar Tausender billiger und lass ihn chippen dann hast nen Mini Cooper.

"absolut gleich" nur 2000 weniger ist aber etwas weit hergeholt

ja nach ausstattung stimmt das nur bedingt.
es fängt beim kontrast dach an, geht über's Getriebe, Stabis, Fahrwerk, andere Spiegelkappen, Sitzpolster und endet bei höheren Aufpreisen für alle möglichen kleinen Teile (wenn überhaupt für geld zu haben).
Am ende bleibt es ein getunter ONE...

jeremy clarkson ist jornalist und bewegt in der regel 250ps+ fahrzeuge, da kommt es dem herren auf die von dir erwähnten details sicherlich wenig an. es ist jedoch schon zu sehen, dass diese kultfigur das thema MINI wirklich versteht und nicht abgedroschene medien-phrasen wiederholt.
