How much is it to mount a bike rack in Germany? - dabo - 30.05.2016

(Sorry for writing in English)

I am trying to get a bike rack for my Mini Cooper S R57. However, here in Sweden that is SEK 18 000 (more than € 1900). I think that is ridiculously expensive so I'm looking for cheaper options and often everything car related is less expensive in Germany than here. Does anyone know how much a complete bike rack and mounting would set me back if I do it Germany?

As I understand it I first need a "cargo carrier" (S3ARA, should be available as a retrofit), mounting of it, reprogramming the computer and then finally the actual bike rack.

I did a quick research:
- Bike rack itself: 677,-€ incl. tax
- SA3AR: ca. 350,-€ incl. tax ("Heckträgervorbereitung")
- Labour, I guess 1-2hrs. Costs may vary depending on the size of the dealer/garage and the region

There you'll find a MINI garage register. Just type the city you are looking for into the "PLZ oder Ort" field and hit "Suchen"...

You'll find garages in Stralsund, Greifswald, Ribnitz-Damgarten, Rostock, Güstrow, Wismar and Lübeck.

I won't go to Hamburg - it's more on the pricy side
