I assume that the Valvetronic faults were just subsequent faults. At this time I was using cruise control, due to traffic at low speed, uphill on the highway in the 6th gear. Due to lack of sufficient boost pressure the Valvetronic tried to meet the higher performance demand via valve lift until the warning threshold has been reached and the first fault has been triggered. Continuing to meet the performance requirements the Valvetronic reached an position on which further adjustment is not possible anymore and stored the second fault in conjunction with the limp home mode.
The reason for my assumption is that up to that time I never had any problems with the Valvetronic and it did never re-occurre. At this time I had an tester with me, left the highway in limp home mode and did an reset as soon as I could stop.
Whats interesting is and I am now focussed on that that there is another thread dealing with diverter valve malfunction, even it has been replaced with an new, improved part number.
There are some guys reporting similar behavior which ended as soon as the "new" diverter valve has been replaced. It could be an option in my case, as I get the fault code 2C8A (any diverter valve fault) very often in conjunction with the already mentioned fault code 2C57 Charging Pressure Control, Plausibility Pressure too low.
Up to now I did not spend so much attention to the diverter valve fault code, as this fault code has also been stored before diverter valve replacement.
Unfortunately it is in german, but if you can follow: http://www.mini2.info/forum/showthread.p...ost3317959
