The difficulty in upgrading is the fact that the H/K amplifier in the rear controls so much of the sound, including crossovers for tweeters, vehicle-specific sound delay, driver mode (moving the sound stage 14 inches or so to the drivers seat), etc, and requires the stock boost head unit to work at all. The workaround is an "HK enabler" from newministuff.com that mimics the stock head unit and sends certain information to the amplifier, but uses your speaker-level outputs from your aftermarket head unit to control the musical signal.
